Moran Community Service Learning  – Learner’s Book Grade 10

Moran Community Service Learning for Grade 10 has been developed after an in-depth research to meet the Curriculum Design for Community Service Learning and enable the learner acquire the specified knowledge, skills, competencies and values. The book also gives learners opportunities to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during classroom learning to carry out various activities within the community for a real experience of CSL rationale in education. The content is presented through the following sections: Background information: Gives learners an insight on the strand. It elaborates the intended concepts in each strand. Introduction: Provides definitions and information needed to navigate the learning activities easily. Did you know?: Contains key inquiry questions meant to arouse critical thinking ability and prepare learners for learning. Learning activity: Presents learning experiences that aid the acquisition of knowledge and development of skills, competencies, values and the specified PCIs. Assess yourself: Enhances self-assessment on the acquisition of knowledge on the concept covered under each activity. Summary notes: This section has been deliberately used to provide the learner with the necessary information for confirmation after going through inquiry based learning in the learning activities. Serve the community: Gives learners an opportunity to perform different tasks that require more time and space following the interactive nature of Competency Based Education. CSL in action: Presents tasks that allow the application of the knowledge, skills, competencies and values developed or acquired to perform a real-life tasks within the CSL groups. Assessment task: Provides authentic tasks or case study analysis in which learners perform using the knowledge, skills, competencies and values developed or acquired during the learning process.
