The House of Doom stands on Mbembe Housing Estate on the outskirts of Roinabi City in the land of Nyak. The estate’s residents fear setting foot in the house. Its tenant is Bloggs Mbela, a veteran investigative journalist. Mbela is suffering from a mysterious disease. Colleagues, close friends and relatives shun him. He withdraws into a lonely life. The Author
Wahome Mutahi, East Africa’s most celebrated humour writer, was born in Nyeri, Kenya. He died on July 22, 2003 at the age of 51. He had remained in a coma for more than four months following a botched operation to remove a growth on his neck. Mutahi, one of Africa’s most eminent creative thinkers, wrote several satirical plays. Being a journalist of great repute, Mutahi also wrote seven books for adults and children. The House of Doom is widely regarded as his masterpiece.
